Close Combat: First to Fight

Important note:

Lobby server support will terminate on May 8, 2008.

You can join an Internet multiplayer game using a specific IP address for the host server. The host address can be a computer name or numerical IP address.

To join a game using Direct IP:
  1. On the First to Fight main screen, click Multiplayer.
  2. Choose Internet or LAN.
  3. Enter the IP address for the host server into the Direct Connect field.
  4. Enter a password (if required).
  5. Click Connect to join the game.

Note: If there is no game at the specified IP address, then a "Connection Failed" dialog box is displayed. When you click OK, you are returned to the Main Menu Screen. Click Multiplayer and try entering the IP address again, using the steps above. If that doesn't work, you should contact the person hosting the game to verify the IP address for the host server.

Ports used by the game:

First to Fight connects to the Internet on the following ports by default:

First to Fight will run from behind most routers and Network Address Translation (NAT) devices. If you have difficulty connecting from behind a router, you should consult your router documentation to ensure that the ports listed above are not blocked for your Mac.

First to Fight does not offer automatic NAT negotiation of UPnP devices. If you have difficulties connecting to games or hosting a server behind this device, you should manually set it to forward the required ports to the IP address of the game computer behind the router.

First to Fight 1.02 update (North American only)

Troubleshooting:

When playing First to Fight, I don’t see my weapon on the screen.

When playing in low-detail, the game does not render the 1st person weapon graphic. This is done by design to allow play on lower-end machines. If your configuration will support it, you can switch to a higher rendering detail through Options -> Graphics -> Rendering Detail.

Saving in multiplayer

You cannot save in multiplayer, but you "can" start your multiplayer game in the mission you left off on. Here's how you do that on the PC:

  1. Go into Multiplayer from the Main Menu.
  2. Now, on the multiplayer setup screen, go ahead and set up all of your options how you want them.
  3. Once you have everything set up how you'd like them to be, go down to the "Mission/Maps" button and select.
  4. You'll now see all 6 missions of the game, so scroll down to the one you want so it's highlighted, and select.
  5. You now are ready to start the match, so go to "Launch".
  6. You'll be in the ready screen now, so choose your weapons, roles, and start the game up.
