Unreal Tournament 2004

Software Update:

Unreal Tournament 2004 3369.2 Universal Binary Update

The 3369.2 patch for Mac OS X is now available. There are some fixes, but the biggest changes are the presence of Universal Binaries and the inclusion of the Epic Mega Pack.

This update drastically improves perfomance on newer, Intel-based Macs. This update includes all of the fixes contained in the 3369 Update, and can be applied to retail version of UT2004. This update will install over any previous retail version, but will not upgrade the UT2004 demo, nor any version of Ut2003.

The package contains both the client and dedicated server. This updater will only work on the retail version (either the original UT2004 or the Editors' Choice Edition), and not the demo.

Troubleshooting:

When double-clicking the game icon, the initial "splash" screen displays and then the game quits.

A conflict between certain USB devices (iSight camera and some USB microphones) and UT2004 causes this problem. Downloading and installing the latest update above will solve the problem.

I hear music, but sound effects and speech are missing in the game.

In most cases, updating the OpenAL library file solves the problem. You can get the OpenAL Update and instructions here.

Please remember that this is an unofficial patch and is not supported by Epic Games or MacSoft. You agree to use it at your own risk. To install the patch, do the following:

1. Backup your copy of Unreal Tournament 2004 application first.
2. CONTROL-click on the application icon of UT2004 to "Show Package Contents."
3. Then replace the openal.dylib file that currently resides in your System folder of your UT2004 .app bundle.

Installer unexpectedly quits after entering the CD key.

Download and use the updated installer below. NOTE: You only need this installer update if you are having the problem described above.
